Disco Fun!

Last Friday night the Year 13
PE students held a disco for the Year 1-6 students.

The theme was neon and there were plenty of bright colours on display.

The glow sticks and bracelets were very popular and made great photographs!

Miss Wilkinson got out her dancing moves and joined in!

The limbo was very popular!

Balloons, lollipops and noise!  FUN!!

We all had a great time.  Thanks to the PE students for hosting us!

More Chocolate Factories...

Myla and Molly have built their versions of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory!

Molly created her factory to be HUGE. We hope there will be plenty of room for all that chocolate inside Molly!

Myla added features to her factory.  She remembered that Willy Wonka had the red carpet rolled out for his special guests and made a red carpet for her factory. Very clever Myla!

We are really enjoying listening to 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.

Music in Room 2

In Room 2 we love learning music with Ms Thomas.  She taught us this new song.

We performed today for Mrs Habgood!

She thought we were amazing!  We are going to perform at our next assembly.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Mrs Habgood is reading us 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' by Roald Dahl.  We love it!

Mollie and Amalia came to school this morning with their own chocolate factories they made at home.  We thought they were very clever.

We wished they were real!

Fonterra Milk in Schools

Today was the first day of our Fonterra Milk in Schools Programme.

Room 2's milk monitor is Rana-Jay.

She brought our milk to our classroom at fruit break.

We drink the milk at our desks.  The things to remember are drink it dry...fold it flat...and send it back!

Amalia, Anuhas and Alex 'drink it dry'!

Pema and Molly are learning how to 'fold it flat'.   Luke is demonstrating how to 'send it back'.

We will be having milk on a Tuesday and a Thursday.
We are looking forward to next Tuesday already!

Book Week Dress Up Day!

Today was the end of our Book Week at Amuri.

We had a special assembly today and we dressed up as our favourite book character.

Primary Assembly

Our very special judges were our teacher Mrs Baldwin, pictured here on the left.  (Miss Wilkinson's hair isn't real!)

Mrs Baldwin and Miss Wilkinson

And the other judge was...

The most famous rodent in the world!

Geronimo Stilton!  He came all the way back in his Cheesemobile to judge our best dressed character competition.  Thanks Geronimo!

Alex came dressed as Ned Land from 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea'.  This was his dad's book.

Molly was an angel with a sparkly halo.

Congratulations to Ronan (aka Zac Powers) and Myla (mermaid).  Geronimo looks tired out from all his judging!

Book Week!

This week was Book Week at Amuri.  On Tuesday we had a very special visitor come into our classroom.

Clue: It was the most famous rodent in the world.  Can you guess who it was?

Yes, Geronimo Stilton!
He gave us his autograph.  We were delighted to see him.

We love to read Geronimo Stilton books in Room 2!

Visit from Mr Francis

Mr Francis visited us at school on Friday.

He came to talk to us about how the weather and seasons change the way he looks after the animals on his dairy farm.

He answered some very difficult questions from the children in Room 2 and 6.

Thank you for coming into school Mr Francis!

Ferrymead Recounts

Room 2 have written recounts of our trip to Ferrymead last term.

We know a good recount has to have...

  • An orientation.
This includes who, what, when and where.

  • A sequence of events.
This is the events that happened in the correct order with at least two sentences written about each of them.

  • A summary.
This is something we learned or something we enjoyed.

We used these as our success criteria.  Here are some of our recounts.

Ferrymead Trip
On Wednesday we went to Ferrymead.  There were lots and lots of people.

First we made a lolly cake.  We set the table.

Then we watched a movie.  The movie was Tom and Jerry.

After that we went to school and we read a story and we did printing.

Next we went to Toys and Games and there was metal and plastic toys there too.  I was fascinated how they made them.

The last thing we did was the tram.  We went slow.  The tram had no doors in the middle of the tram.

My favourite activity was the movie.  I was fascinated how they made the curtains open and shut.

Trip to Ferrymead
Last term Year 1-6 went to Ferrymead to see what life was like for our grandparents.
When we got to Ferrymead we dressed up.  I had to wear a dress.
Next we went to the kitchen and cooked lolly cake.  I had to grind the biscuits.
After that we went to the movie theatre.  We watched two movies.
Almost at the end we went to the school.  We did a sheet and some reading.  The teacher was fun.
Then we went to toys and games.  My favourite thing was the bubbles because I liked popping them.
Last of all we went on the tram.  The tram went slow but it was really exciting.
One thing I learned from Ferrymead is that our grandparents used to watch Tom and Jerry too.
